LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Sophomore Nicole Broecker (Staten Island, NY) had a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings, settling for a four-hit shutout as Felician College defeated Rivier College, 4-0, in non-conference softball action Tuesday morning at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. Felician (3-2) split two games at Disney's Spring Training, losing, 6-1, to Northland College earlier Tuesday.

Against Rivier, the Golden Falcons snapped a scoreless tie with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. After loading the bases with no one out on a single, double and walk, Rebecca Dodd (Oakland, NJ) singled just inside the left field foul line to drive in the go-ahead run. Sherry Flynn (Oakland, NJ) followed with an RBI single, and, one out later, Cortney Gavin (Kearny, NJ) capped the rally with a two-run double.

After Broecker lost the no-hitter bid on an infield single by Jillian Robar with two outs in the sixth, Rivier got three singles in the top of the seventh, the last with two outs. Broecker induced a flyout to left field to end the game and preserve the shutout. She struck out five and walked none.

In the early game, Northland left-hander Brittany Schmitt held the Golden Falcons to four hits and an unearned run. The LumberJills broke open a one-run game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Schmitt struck out eight and walked none.

Mel Grego was 3 for 4 and Grego and Karen Harnisch had a two-run double for Northland. Meredith Rainer (Wantage, NJ) scored the Felician run.
