RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College was held to 21-percent second-half shooting in its 72-44 season-ending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s basketball loss to the visiting University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
USP (18-9, 15-7) outscored the hosts, 14-3, over the final seven minutes, 25 seconds of the first half to take a 35-24 lead into halftime. Felician closed to within a seven-point deficit in the opening minutes of the second period, but the Devils took control with a 9-1 run to move ahead, 49-33, with 11:55 to play. The Golden Falcons were held to three field goals from that point forward. USP outshot Felician, 48-31 percent, and owned a 40-27 rebounding advantage.
The Devils’ Shelby Rance (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the first half. Teammate Erin Chesnavich (Pittston, PA/Bishop O’Reilly) had 13 points and Allison Weiss (Springfield, PA/Springfield) had 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Terry Sues (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearley) scored 13 points for Felician, which finishes 2-28 and 1-21.
Six Golden Falcon seniors, Suzanne Albert (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier College), Laurin Brown (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional), Diane Burns (Brewster, NY/Brewster), Kaityln Gardepe (Highland Lakes, NJ/Sussex Tech), Gloria Pinck (Hamburg, NJ/Vernon Township) and Sues were honored in a pre-game ceremony.
