Felician Athletics - 2/15/07 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Strong Finish Leads Nyack Past Felician Men, 82-73

NYACK, N.Y. -- Despite 33 points and a career-high matching 17 rebounds from senior Michael Pierrot (Melville, NY), the Felician men's basketball team lost its CACC game to host Nyack College, 82-73, on Thursday night at Bowman Gym.

Nyack used five consecutive points from Sheanan Martinez to push a one-point lead with three minutes, 37 seconds, remaining to 72-67 at the 2:01 mark. After another defensive stop, a Josh Tate three-point field goal completed a game-controlling 8-0 run. The Warriors sealed the victory with 7 of 8 free throws in the final 1:03. Felician (12-13, 10-8) led, 32-26 at halftime and by as many as 11 points early in the second half.

Martinez paced Nyack (9-15, 7-10) with 26 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. John Vandunk had 16 points and Brian Roberts added 14 points and nine rebounds. Pierrot shot 11 for 15 from the floor and added three blocks and was backed by 15 points from James Harper (Eatontown, NJ).
