RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College’s Michael Pierrot of Melville, N.Y., has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the ECAC announced today. He is the first Felician student-athlete in any sport in 2006-07 to win an ECAC Player of the Week award.

Pierrot, a senior center, was honored a day after winning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player-of-the-Week honors for the second time this season. He helped the Golden Falcons to a 2-1 week by averaging 25.3 points, 14.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocked shots in the three games, while shooting 57 percent from the field. The ECAC is made up of institutions from all three NCAA Divisions, including 45 Division II schools, in the eastern United States. Pierrot is a 2003 graduate of Half Hollow Hills East.

Pierrot has also moved into the top 20 nationally in two statistical categories, according to NCAA Division II statistics updated today. He took over the CACC and Northeast Region lead in blocks per game with 2.35, good for 16th in the country. He also ranks 14th in rebounding with 10.0, and 38th in scoring at 20.1 points per game.

Felician is 12-12 overall and 10-7 in CACC play heading into Thursday’s game at Nyack. The Golden Falcons are tied for fourth place in the 11-team league with three games remaining.
