RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Former all-state midfielder Jen Mathews of Pompton Lakes has transferred to Felician College and plans to join the women’s soccer team this fall, Felician head coach Erin Fitzgerald announced today.
The 5-foot-4 Mathews is a 2006 graduate of Pompton Lakes High, where she was a second-team all-Passaic County selection for coach Ron Bivona. She attended Bloomsburg (Pa.) University last semester but did not play. By sitting out Felician’s spring workouts, she will have four seasons of eligibility.
Mathews, who was also all-league in basketball and softball scholastically, is majoring in elementary and special education. She is the oldest of three children of Dan and Kathy Mathews.
