Felician Athletics - 2/1/07 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Caldwell Outlasts Felician, 68-51

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Despite forcing a season-high 38 turnovers, the Felician College women’s basketball team lost to visiting Caldwell College, 68-51, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action Thursday evening at Job Gymnasium.

Caldwell (12-9, 7-7) led, 30-25, after a closely contested first half. Still up four in the early stages of the second period, the Cougars used consecutive three-point field goals by Shannon Coyle (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) to begin a game-controlling 17-4 run, taking a 50-33 lead with 8:51 to play. Felician came within a seven-point deficit on two occasions, the last time with 3:30 left, but the Cougars closed the game out by making nine of 10 free throws.

Coyle led all scorers with 18 points, and Caldwell’s Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) recorded 16 points, 14 rebounds and eight steals. Crystal Ferrer (Bronx, NY/Redemption Christian) had 13 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for the Golden Falcons (1-23, 0-16). The Cougars forced 40 Felician turnovers and held the Golden Falcons to 33 percent shooting.
