RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College saw a 10-point lead with 53 seconds remaining whittled down to one point before holding on for a 92-89 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men’s basketball victory over visiting Post University on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium.

After a James Harper (Eatontown, NJ/Long Branch) free throw gave Felician (9-11, 7-6) a 90-80 advantage with 0:53 on the clock, the Golden Falcons missed six consecutive free throws, and in between turned the ball over on a bad pass. Post was stopped the first time it got the ball back, but the next three times Felician failed to score, Arthur Robertson (Far Rockaway, NY/Beach Challen) nailed three-point field goals, the last time bringing the eagles to within 90-89 with seven seconds remaining. Felician’s Sydir Mitchell (Paterson, NJ/Paterson) was fouled with just over four ticks on the clock and made both shots, and teammate James Jones (West Haven, CT/West Haven) was able to get a hand in the face of a long Gary Schick (Bloomfield, CT/Bloomfield) three-point attempt, which missed wide at the buzzer.

The lead changed hands seven times in the opening nine minutes. Felician took the lead for good at 20-19 just over nine minutes into the game, and enjoyed its biggest edge at 32-20 before Post rallied to pull within 40-36 at halftime. The 10-point edge in the final minute was the Golden Falcons’ largest in the second half.

Felician’s Michael Pierrot (Melville, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) posted 27 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, and Harper added 18 points and 11 boards. Mitchell finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Robertson led six double-figure scorers for the Eagles with game highs of 31 points and 15 rebounds. Post saw its school-record winning streak stopped at eight games.
