RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Nyack College women’s basketball team overcame an 18-point first-half deficit to defeat host Felician College, 76-69, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action Thursday night at Job Gymnasium.
Felician (1-18, 0-11) jumped out to leads of 18-4 and and 30-12, and owned a 43-30 halftime advantage. Nyack went on a 21-7 run over the first six minutes of the second half, taking its first lead of the game on a Kelly Holmes (Valley Stream, NY) three-point field goal with 14:01 to play. The Warriors, who shot 56.0 percent from the floor in the second half, took their largest lead of 70-60 at the 3:33 mark, and went 6 for 6 at the foul line on their final three possessions to thwart a Felician comeback attempt.
Sarah Hindmarch (Sunderland, England) scored 20 points in 22 minutes, leading Nyack (6-7, 4-6) to 50 bench points. Kaarina Stearns (Spring Valley, NY) added 13 points and seven rebounds. Laurin Brown (Bayville, NJ) scored 18 points and Diane Burns (Brewster, NY) added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Falcons.
