Felician Athletics - 11/30/06 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Men Can't Finish Comeback In 83-78 Loss At Post

WATERBURY, Conn. -- The Felician men's basketball team received 26 points from senior Sydir Mitchell (Clifton, NJ) but lost its CACC game to host Post university, 83-78, on Thursday at the Drubner Center.

After a closely contested first half found the Golden Falcons trailing, 37-35, Post (3-3, 2-0) embarked on a 14-6 run for the first 3 1/2 minutes of the second period. Felician pulled to within 59-57 on a Jason Romer (New York, NY) three-point field goal, but the Eagles got the lead back up to 10 points with 5:31 remaining.

Helped by an Eagle technical foul, Mitchell scored six points in a 7-0 spurt which closed the gap to 74-71 at the 2:37 mark. Post then took control for good by getting a basket, a defensive stop, and two free throws. The Golden Falcons (1-4, 1-1) never led after halftime.

Post's A.J. Reitter came off the bench to score 18 points with 10 rebounds. Romer (seven rebounds) and Michael Pierrot (Melville, NY) had 15 points apiece for Felician.
