11/22/06 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Men Lose Offensive Battle at Queens, 102-90 Print E-mail
FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The Felician men's basketball team received 34 points and 10 rebounds from senior Sydir Mitchell, but could not overcome a second-half deficit in its 102-90 non-conference lost to host Queens (N.Y.) College on Wednesday night at Fitzgerald Gym.

After falling behind, 54-48, at halftime, the Golden Falcons (0-3) scored the first four points of the second half. The Knights then embarked on the game's decisive run, a 14-2 spurt which gave them a 68-54 edge with 16 minutes to play. Felician never got closer than a 10-point deficit the rest of the way, with Queens taking its largest lead at 91-72. The Knights were playing their season opener.

Brad Wierzbicki had 38 points and six assists and Lance Hazel posted 13 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for the Knights. Mitchell was backed by 15 points from Jason Romer and 13 points and three blocks by Michael Pierrot.
