RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Mariano Gonzalez of Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Second Team for the College Division in District II, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Gonzalez is the first student-athlete in the 11-year history of Felician athletics to be honored by CoSIDA’s Academic All-District program.

Gonzalez carries a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average as a double-major in biology and physical therapy. He is a two-time selection to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team, and in spring 2006 was named an Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar by the periodical Diverse Issues in Higher Education. Gonzalez is in his third year attended Felician after beginning his collegiate career at Essex County College.

Gonzalez, a defender, started all 17 games in his senior season. The Golden Falcons had a won-lost-tied record of 3-11-3, and finished sixth in the CACC with a 2-3-2 league mark. They reached the CACC playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.

CoSIDA’s District II is comprised of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The College Division consists of all non-Division I institutions.
