RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Abe Kasbo of West Caldwell, Rich Lee of Cedar Grove, and Christina Rey of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., have been named assistant women's basketball coaches at Felician College, head coach Jay Latko announced today.
Kasbo was an assistant men's basketball coach at Montclair State University in 2004-05, following three seasons as the head men's coach at Centenary (N.J.) College. He was also a coach and board member in the Paterson CYO league for 11 years. Kasbo is the founder and chief executive officer of Verasoni Worldwide Communications in Montclair, and was named to NJ Biz magazine's 2006 "Forty Under 40" class, which recognized New Jersey's most dynamic business leaders under age 40. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science/international relations and a master's in public administration from Seton Hall University.
Lee has 25 years of coaching experience on the AAU, high school, college, professional and international levels. He spent the 2005-06 season as an assistant with the Felician men's program. Prior to that, he assisted with a professional team in the Australian National Basketball League for two years, making one playoff appearance. Collegiately, he has also been an assistant with the men's teams at Stevens Institute of Technology and William Paterson University. Lee has earned a BA in media arts from New Jersey City University and a BA in history from Rutgers University.
Rey is a 2006 cum laude graduate of Felician, receiving a BA in elementary education/English. She was a captain, four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Golden Falcons' softball team in centerfield, and also played for Latko on the basketball team in 2005-06. She is an assistant softball coach at Bogota High. Rey is a 2001 graduate of Delaware Valley High.
The three newcomers join holdover Mike Findling on Latko's 2006-07 staff. Felician will open the season with a trip to the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic on November 3-5 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. |
