NEW CASTLE, Del. – Felician College senior Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ) became the school’s all-time leader in three-point field goals and scored her 1,000th point in a Golden Falcon uniform despite her team’s 65-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivisional loss to host Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Center.

Biamonte’s three three-pointers gave her 130 in her three years at Felician, one better than the mark held by Laurin Brown (2003-07). She finished with 15 points, leaving her with exactly 1,000 in her Golden Falcon career and making her the fifth Felician female to reach that milestone. Biamonte scored 78 points as a freshman at Montclair State University, and celebrated the millennium for her combined collegiate career earlier this month.

In a game which featured 11 ties and 12 lead changes, Wilmington (8-10, 5-5) took the lead for good on a pair of Kim Parker (New Castle, DE) free throws with two minutes, 59 seconds, left in regulation. An Ashley Baker (Willingboro, NJ) jumper gave the Wildcats a three-point edge at the 0:58 mark, and the hosts preserved the victory by going 6 for 6 at the foul line in the final minute. Wilmington made 13 of 14 free-throw attempts (93 percent) on the day while the Golden Falcons shot only 39 percent (7 for 18).

Wilmington’s Amelia Simmons (Wilmington, DE), the CACC’s top scorer and rebounder, put up 27 points and nine boards on the day, in the process becoming Wilmington’s career scoring leader. Quay Baskerville (Hartford, CT) led Felician (11-7, 5-5) with 23 points and added eight rebounds, and Taisha Hylor (Brooklyn, NY), a transfer from Wilmington, grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds.
