Felician Athletics - 1/29/10 SOFTBALL - Softball Team To Open 2010 In Florida

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – A 10-game spring break trip to Cocoa Beach, Fla., highlights the non-conference portion of the 2010 Felician College softball schedule, which was released today.

Felician has 46 games slated for this spring, with all of the “northern” contests against East Region Division-II opponents. The 26-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference docket includes doubleheaders against two squads – Caldwell College (Mar. 30, away) and Georgian Court University (Apr. 13, away) – which received votes in the national D-II preseason coaches poll, as well as first-year head coach Rick Krasny’s former team, Dominican (N.Y.) College (Apr. 7, home), the 2009 CACC regular-season champion.

Krasny’s Felician career will begin at the Cocoa Beach Sports Expo from Mar. 7-12. The home opener is a Mar. 23 twinbill against Molloy College, and three days earlier the CACC season begins when the Golden Falcons are hosted by Philadelphia University.

“I hope that this will be the start of a new era for the Felician College softball team,” Krasny said. “We are excited to start a new season with a new outlook and expect to play a new, exciting brand of softball.”

The Golden Falcons were 10-33 in 2009 and finished 11th in the CACC.
