PHILADELPHIA – The Felician College women’s soccer team lost in the quartefinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon, falling to top-seeded Philadelphia University, 2-0, at Ravenhill Field. Felician ends its season with a won-lost-tied record of 6-9-2.

While top-seeded Philadelphia (13-4-3) would eventually open up wide statistical advantages, it took the Lady Rams until the 64th minute to find their way onto the scoreboard. CACC Rookie of the Year Trisha Sileo (Islip, NY/Islip) used a strong individual effort, beating multiple defenders and launching a shot into the upper left corner of the net, to break the scoreless tie.

Shortly thereafter, Ram goalkeeper Kelly Kowalewski (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) kept her team in the lead by going high to save a Brittney Brodniak (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge) shot. Philadelphia would seal the victory in the 77th minute when Gabrielle Haden (Freehold, NJ/Colts Neck) scored on a rebound.

The first half was played to a standstill, with the No. 8 seed Golden Falcons matching the Lady Rams opportunity for opportunity for most of the period, and freshman goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) backing the Felician defense with several difficult saves. Kowalewski denied the Golden Falcon’s best scoring chance of the half with a leaping stop of a Derienne Jacobowitz (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) shot.

The Lady Rams had the better of play late in the first half and the majority of the second, eventually racking up a 42-10 shot advantage and an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Couzo made a season high 20 saves to keep Felician in the hunt. Kowalewski was credited with eight saves.
