OCAMPO LYNDHURST, N.J. – Three different seniors scored goals for the Felician College men’s soccer team in its season-ending 3-1 non-conference Senior Day victory over visiting Mercy College on Saturday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Diego Ocampo (Dover, NJ/Dover) sealed the win for the Golden Falcons with a 78th minute goal. Ocampo received a pass across the box from Kevin Sinic (Leibnitz, Austria/Borg Honsberger) and buried a shot into the upper left corner of the net. He scored just one minute, 58 seconds, after Mercy junior Artiz Artoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ejo Maq) had cut the Felician lead to 2-1.
Felician (4-13-1) took a 2-0 lead after 28 minutes had gone by in the match. Senior Conrad Symber (South Amboy, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) tallied from 30 yards away in the 14th minute, and classmate Quincy Small (Linden, Guyana/Mackenzie) provided the two-goal lead at 27:27. Sinic finished with two assists on the day.
Goalkeeper Martin Walsh (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) kept the Mavericks (3-12) close all afternoon. Walsh made 10 saves, including many from close range. Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ/GCIT) earned the victory with one save for the Golden Falcons.
Six Felician seniors – Juan Licht (Bogota, Colombia/San Viator), Ocampo, Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional), Small, Smith, and Symber – were honored in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.
