 JACOBOWITZ LYNDHURST, N.J. – Junior forward Derienne Jacobowitz (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) had two goals and two assists as the Felician College women’s soccer team defeated visiting Lincoln University, 8-1, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. It was the final match of the regular season for both schools.
Felician freshman Jen Jimenez (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) broke a 1-1 tie with her first career goal on a header in the 28th minute, and her team took the one-goal lead into halftime. The Golden Falcons (6-8-2) then broke the game open with three goals in the first 12 minutes of the second period, and tacked on three more before the final buzzer. Jacobowitz scored or assisted on her team’s first four scores of the match.
Emily Gleason (East Hanover, NJ/Morris Catholic) had a goal and two assists and Nina D’Amato (Lyndhurst, NJ/ICHS-Lodi) added a goal and an assist for Felician, which plays in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Tuesday. Junior defender Amanda Mottola (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) picked up the first goal of her career, and Stephanie Jimenez (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and Nora Selimaj (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) also tallied for the hosts.
Stephanie Anderson (Havre de Grace, MD/Aberdeen) earned her 13th goal of the season for Lincoln (5-10). Lion goalkeeper Brittany Johnson (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) made four saves.
Felician seniors Jenn Ghiroli (Branford, CT/Branford), Sam Giordano (Garfield, NJ/Garfield), Aleshia Jijon (Rochelle Park, NJ/Paramus Catholic) (two assists) and Sara Mammone (Rochelle Park, NJ/Hackensack) (one assist) were honored in a pre-game ceremony.
