NEW CASTLE, Del. -- The Wilmington (Del.) University women's soccer team erased a pair of deficits in its 5-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Felician College on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Complex.
Felician (5-8-2, 4-5-2) took a 2-0 lead after 30 minutes on goals by junior Brittney Brodniak (Woodbridge, NJ), the first of her career, and senior Jenn Ghiroli (Branford, CT). But the Wildcats rebounded to tie the match, 2-2, by halftime.
Golden Falcon junior Anna Petersen (Newton, NJ) scored on a free kick in the 60th minute to give her team a 3-2 advantage. Wilmington again got the equalizer, this time less than four minutes later on a direct kick by Kory Webster. The eventual game-winner game in the 66th minute when Taryn Sanchez headed home a corner kick.
Wilmington (9-5-1, 8-2-1) featured five different goal scorers, and goalkeeper Brooke Eveler earned the victory with nine saves. Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ) was credited with eight saves for the Golden Falcons.
