POMONA, N.J. -- The five scoring runners for the Felician College men's cross-country team crossed the finish line one minute, 10 seconds apart from one another at Saturday morning's Collegiate Track Conference championships, helping the Golden Falcons to a fourth place finish out of 13 schools on the campus of Richard Stockton College.

The 70-second spread was Felician's tightest in seven races this season. Freshman Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, NJ) placed third overall out of 151 entrants, completing the 8,000-meter course in 26 minutes, 30 seconds. Albano has finished no worse than ninth in any meet this year, and has been the Golden Falcons' frontrunner in each race.

The rest of the Golden Falcons' scorers on Saturday finished within 10 seconds of one another. Sophomore James Vander Wiele (Pequannock, NJ) made a successful return after missing four weeks due to injury, placing 24th in 27:30, and junior Jay Rodgers (Westmont, NJ) was four seconds off of his personal best, clocking a 27:31 for 25th place. Rodgers was as high as the No. 3 man on the team for the first time in 2009.

Rounding out the Felician scorers were senior Brad Schepise (Milltown, NJ) (27th, 27:39) and freshman Taylor Trumbetti (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) (28th, 27:40). DeSales University won the CTC title with 68 points, and Abad Akhtar of the host Ospreys was the individual champion in 26:13. Click here for complete results.

The meet was Felician's final tune-up for the Oct. 24 Central Atlantic Collegiate Championship. The Golden Falcons have won the last five team titles, and Vander Wiele is the defending CACC Runner of the Year.
