Felician Athletics - 10/17/09 VOLLEYBALL - Doran Has Record Day In Volleyball Victory

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior Amber Doran (Little Ferry, NJ/Ridgefield Park) set a Felician College single-match record with 28 kills as the Golden Falcons defeated visiting Chestnut Hill College, 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-17) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivisional action Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

Doran gave Felician a 19-15 fourth-set lead with her final kill of the match, eclipsing the former program standard of 27 reached twice by Keisha Milstrey. She also added 17 digs for her fifth consecutive “double-double.” Two other Golden Falcons established school records for a four-set match: Nicole Degenhardt (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) with 50 assists and Erica Moore (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) with 30 digs.

Felician (4-19, 3-9) had to score the final five points of the first set to escape with the victory. After the Golden Falcons went ahead, 2-0, Chestnut Hill ended the third set with a 7-1 run. The Golden Falcons, however, finished strong in Set 4, scoring seven of the match’s final nine points.

Jenna Matesic (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) hit .385 with 17 digs for Felician, and Degenhardt also had 12 digs. Elisabeth DeGregorio (Conshohocken, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) topped the Griffins (4-19, 0-13) with 38 digs and teammate Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA/Rosamond) hit .405 with 18 kills and four blocks.
