RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Four members of the 2009 Felician College softball team have been honored with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) girls got game Scholar-Athlete Award.
The award is given to players for any NFCA-member coach who post a 3.50 or better grade-point average for the academic year which includes that spring’s playing season. Three returning players reached that milestone for 2008-2009: current seniors Kelly Hughes (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Hope Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) and junior Kristina Jimenez (West Milford, NJ/West Milford).
Also earning the award was 2009 graduate Nicole Broecker (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic). Kathy Hill was the head coach of the Golden Falcons for the 2009 season, and Rick Krasny has since been named to that position. Felician is a member of NCAA Division II and plays in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conferece.
