Felician Athletics - 10/12/09 GOLF - Felician, Leardo Ninth At Charger Challenge

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- The Felician College golf team concluded its 2009-10 fall season with a ninth place finish at the Dominican College Charger Challenge held Sunday and Monday at Spook Rock Golf Course.

Junior Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) was the No. 1 man for Felician, as he has been at all four events this fall. Leardo placed ninth out of 55 entrants, and his Round 2 total of 75 on Monday gave him a score of nine-over-par 153 for the tournament. He was the only player in the top 10 whose team did not place in the top 4.

Senior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) had a steady tournament, and his 82-81-163 on the 6,894-yard course was good for second on the Golden Falcons and a tie for 25th overall. Also in the starting five for Felician were freshman Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) (82-88-170, T-39th), senior Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ) (92-90-182, 46th), and junior Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) (95-104-199, 54th).

Felician posted a team score of 334 each day. It's 668 total was good for fifth place out of six Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools in attendance, besting the 699 of Caldwell College.
