Felician Athletics - 9/30/09 GOLF - Leardo Wins USP Quad Match

PHILADELPHIA -- Felician College junior Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) was the individual medalist at a four-way dual golf match hosted by the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon at Island Green Country Club.

Leardo shot a two-over-par 74 on the 6,615-yard course to win the event by two strokes over runner-up Daniel Garcia of Caldwell College. It is the third time in his career he has won or shared medalist honors in an event.

The Golden Falcons went 1-2 on the day, defeating Chestnut Hill College, 348-370, in the season's first dual-match action. Senior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) shot 81, tying for fifth place out of 21 entrants. Also scoring for Felician were freshman Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) (85, T-8th) and sophomore Pat Raines (Rutherford, NJ) (108, T-19th).

The host Devils were the team champions with a total of 332. Caldwell went 2-1 by carding a 342.
