RIVERHEAD, N.Y. -- The Felician College golf team set team school scoring records for 18 and 36 holes at the Dowling College September shootout on Sunday and Monday at Long Island National Country Club.

The 18-hole record fell on Sunday, when the Golden Falcons shot 315, eight strokes better than the previous mark set last season. Junior Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) led the way with a three-over-par 74, and senior Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ) fired a 76. Senior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) came through with a 79, and junior Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) rounded out the scoring with an 86.

Felician followed up with a 329 on Monday for a 36-hole total of 644, besting school record for a 36-hole event by 20 shots. The Golden Falcons finished 12th out of 15 schools in the tournament, ending up ahead of two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams.

Leardo (74-79-153) was the Golden Falcons No. 1 man, and tied for 15th place overall out of 82 competitors. The rest of Felician's starting five were within three strokes of each other. Young placed in a tie for 61st (79-87-166), followed by Peters (T-64th, 76-92-168), Smith (T-64th, 86-82-168) and freshman Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) (66th, 88-81-169).

Wilmington University (298-300-598) won the event, and the Wildcats' Daniel Ott was the individual medalist with a three-under-par 139.
