9/26/09 WOMEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY - Root In Top Ten, Team Sixth, At Philly Metro Print E-mail
PHILADELPHIA -- Running on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship course, the Felician College women's cross-country team placed sixth out of 20 teams at the Philly Metro Small College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Fairmount Park's Belmont Plateau. Junior Sarah Root (Aberdeen, NJ) led the Felician contingent with an eighth place finish.

Root posted her first top-ten result of the season, completing the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, 56 seconds. She was backed by sophomore Leslie Feola's (Oak Ridge, NJ) 31st place showing out of 177 entrants with a time of 21:51.

Completing Felician's scoring on the day were senior Sophia Chick (Edison, NJ) (54th, 22:40), freshman Jacqueline Rivera (Haskell, NJ) (55th, 22:40), and junior Kaitlyn Minehan (Ocean City, NJ) (91st, 23:59). The Golden Falcons were fifth out of seven CACC schools in attendance. The CACC Championship will be held at Belmont Plateau on Oct. 24.

Regionally-ranked Philadelphia University won the event, and Ram sophomore Sarah Simonetti was the individual champion in 19:26.
