Felician Athletics - 9/13/09 GOLF - Leardo Is Seventh In Season Opener

MIDDLETOWN, Del. -- Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) teed off his junior season with a seventh place finish out of 63 entrants at the Wilmington Fall Golf Classic, hosted by Wilmington (Del.) University on Sunday at Frog Hollow Golf Club.

The participants played 36 holes on Sunday and were allowed to use carts. Leardo began the day with a 77, then followed up with a two-over-par 73 on the 6,608-yard course for a total of 150 (+8) on the day. He was the low man for a Felician team which placed seventh in the team standings by shooting 335-329-664.

Senior Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ) was tied for 40th with an 84-84-168. Rounding out the scoring positions for the Golden Flacons were freshman Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) (T-46th, 85-86-171), and senior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) (53rd, 89-86-175). The host Wildcats won the nine-school event (292-302-594), and Paul Tighe of Wilmington was the individual medalist (68-72-140, -2).
