BRONX, N.Y. -- The Felician College women's cross-country team finished in 16th place at the Fordham Fiasco, hosted by Fordham University on Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
The meet was well-stocked with Division-I talent, and Felician finished ahead of D-I New Jersey Institute of Technology. The Golden Falcons were also second out of three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools in attendance.
Junior Sarah Root (Aberdeen, NJ) led the Felician contingent, running the 5,000-meter course in 21 minutes, 13 seconds. Root crossed the finish line in 85th place out of 181 entrants, and teammate Leslie Feola (Oak Ridge, NJ) also snuck into the top 100. Feola, a sophomore, was 97th in 21:40.
Rounding out the Golden Falcon scoring were freshman Jacqueline Rivera (Haskell, NJ) (121st, 22:20), senior Sophia Chick (Edison, NJ) (143rd, 23:01), and freshman Alyssa Philhower (Clifton, NJ) (147th, 23:23). The University of Pennsylvania won the meet with 30 points, and Jeptui Cherutich of New York Institute of Technology was the individual champion in 18:07.
