Felician Athletics - 8/18/08 SOFTBALL - Softball Program Signs All-Essex Infielder

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Recent high-school graduate Gina Piserchio of West Orange has signed a national letter of intent to continue her softball career at Felician College, Golden Falcon director of athletics Ben DiNallo Jr. announced today.

Piserchio was a first-team all-area and second-team all-Essex County selection for West Orange High. She was named team Most Valuable Player as a junior. The 4-foot-11 middle infielder is a member of the Jersey Diamond Girls summer program.

Piserchio was also a member of the cheerleading team for the Mountaineers, and was a three-time Universal Cheerleading Association All-Star. She intends to major in special education at Felician.

Piserchio joins pitcher Stephanie Romano (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial), who committed in the early signing period in November, as a member of the Felician softball team’s class of 2013.

Felician is a member of NCAA Division II and plays in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Golden Falcons will look to rebound from a 10-33 won-lost record in 2009.
