RUTHERFORD, N.J. – After a season-opening tournament in Massachusetts, the Felician College women’s soccer team will play four of its other five non-conference games against East Coast Conference competition, according to the 2009 schedule released today.
Felician has 19 games slated for this season, all against NCAA Division II opponents. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule jumps from 11 to 12 matches with the addition to the league of Concordia (N.Y.) College (away, Oct. 15). The home opener is Fri., Sept. 4, against St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3:30 p.m.
The Golden Falcons will begin the season with a trip to American International College in Springfield, Mass., for the AIC Classic on Aug. 27-28. Both of their opponents that weekend, Le Moyne College and the host Yellow Jackets, hail from the Northeast-10 Conference.
“We have to play every team on the schedule sooner or later,” said second-year head coach Thomas Notte. “The challenge for our players will be to give their best effort day in and day out. The biggest change from last year is that we have less home games, but I’m sure our girls will be able to handle that.”
Felician is coming off of a 10-11 won-lost record in 2008. The Golden Falcons qualified for the CACC playoffs for the first time since 2004 and reached their first-ever ECAC Tournament.
