Felician Athletics - 6/1/09 BASEBALL - Zudonyi Earns Second All-Region Honor

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) has been named to the 2009 National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Division II All-East Region Second Team, according to balloting released on Friday.

The NCBWA honor marks the second all-region selection this postseason for Zudonyi, who was also a second-team Daktronics honoree. He was the 2009 first-team all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference second-baseman.

Zudonyi hit .307 with 42 runs scored and 27 RBI in 47 games as the Golden Falcons’ leadoff man. He had 18 extra-base hits, including three home runs, and finished in the top five in the CACC in runs and stolen bases (20).

The Division II East Region consists of the CACC, East Coast Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference, plus one independent. In total, 33 teams are encompassed. The NCBWA was founded in 1962 to facilitate the advancement of college baseball and consists of writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.

Felician completed the 2009 season with a 24-24 won-lost record. The Golden Falcons tied for fifth place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a 14-13 league mark.
