RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Felician College graduate and former soccer player Boris Shabovta scored a goal in his Premier Development League (PDL) debut last Saturday.
Shabovta, a native of Russia now residing in Manalapan, had the only goal for the New Jersey Rangers in a 1-1 tie with the host New Hampshire Phantoms in East Hampstead, N.H. He scored the game's first tally late in the opening half. It was the season opener for both clubs. More information is available at www.njrangersfc.org/teamnews.html.
The PDL is affiliated with the United Soccer Leagues (USL). It provides an upper-level premier playing experience in a professionalized atmosphere. The USL also has two divisions of professional soccer under its umbrella.
Shabovta is a 2008 graduate of Felician with a BS in business administration, and played his final year of eligibility for the Golden Falcons last fall as a graduate student. He led the team in scoring in 2007 and assists in 2008. |
