 PESKOSKY  WRIGHT RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College seniors Alex Wright of Stockholm and Laura Peskosky of Clifton have been named the 2008-09 Felician Male and Female Senior Student-Athletes of the Year. The duo was honored at the athletics department’s senior banquet on Tuesday night at The Fiesta in Wood-Ridge.
The Felician senior student-athletes of the year are the male and female graduating athletes who, as selected by department administrators, best represent the mission statement of Golden Falcon athletics. Academic performance, athletic contribution, citizenship, and leadership both inside and outside of athletics are among the selection criteria.
Wright, a cross-country runner, is the only four-time all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference performer in program history. Felician won the CACC team championship in all four of his seasons. In 2008, he was the Golden Falcons’ No. 3 runner, and finished fifth at the CACC meet. He set a career low 8,000-meter time of 27:38 at the Cabrini Invitational. Wright was a three-time Academic All-CACC honoree, and carries a 3.67 grade-point average with a double major in criminal justice and history. He is a 2004 graduate of Wallkill Valley High.
Peskosky, a middle blocker for the volleyball team, is that program’s all-time leader in matches played and blocks. She played in all 31 matches this season, averaging 1.03 kills and 0.30 blocks per set as the Golden Falcons went 3-28. She has served as a resident assistant and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and maintains a 3.91 GPA as a graphic design major. Peskosky is a 2005 graduate of Clifton High. |
