Felician Athletics - 4/13/09 GOLF - Golden Falcons Go 1-2 At Caldwell Invite

ESSEX FELLS, N.J. -- The Felician golf team defeated the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, 331-341, highlighting a 1-2 day of dual-match action at the Caldwell College Invitational on Monday afternoon at Essex Fells Country Club.

Sophomore Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) led the Felician contingent with an eight-over-par 78. Leardo finished in a tie for fifth place out of 20 competitors. The final three Golden Falcon scorers placed consecutively in the standings. Junior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) ended up in 11th with an 83, classmate Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ) shot 84 for 12th place, and Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) signed for an 86, good for 13th. No. 5 man Pat Raines (Rutherford, NJ) shot 102 and did not figure in the team scoring.

The Golden Falcons (4-6) lost to the host Cougars (313) and Dominican (N.Y.) College (316). Caldwell's Randy Kurzinsky and Brian Kivlehan of Dominican tied for individual medalist honors, each with a 74.
