RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Devon Young of Monmouth Junction has been named to the All-Met Division II Men’s Basketball Second Team, the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association announced on Friday. Area head coaches voted on the award winners.
Young, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound guard, is an All-Met Second Team selection for the second consecutive year. In 2008-09, he started all 29 games, and averaged a team-high 15.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He finished 11th in the CACC in scoring and ninth in three-pointers (1.69 per game).
Young earned the rare trifecta of single-season Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honors this year: All-conference (second team), all-tournament, and academic all-conference. He is already among Felician’s top 10 all-time scorers with 885 points in 55 games. He is a 2007 graduate of South Brunswick High.
Felician posted a 16-13 won-lost record in 2008-09. The Golden Falcons reached the semifinals of the CACC Tournament for the first time in four years, and recorded the second-highest victory total in team history.
Young and the rest of the All-Met teams from all three NCAA divisions will be honored at the 76th NIT/MWBA All-Met Haggerty Awards Dinner next Wednesday, April 15, at the Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford.
