AVONDALE, Pa. -- In the first round of its 2009 spring season, the Felician College golf team lowered the team 18-hole school record by two strokes, firing a 335 on Day 1 of the Goldey-Beacom College Invitational on Monday afternoon at Hartefeld National Golf Club.

The top four scores out of the starting five players count toward the team score. Felician's low two shooters, sophomore Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) and junior Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ) matched their 2008-09 season bests with a 77 and 79, respectively. Junior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) had an 83, and classmate Jason Smith (Gloucester, NJ) was the No. 4 man with an 86. Also in the line-up was freshman Pat Raines (Rutherford, NJ), who shot 100.

The Golden Falcons are in 11th place in the 16-team tournament with 18 holes remaining on Tuesday. Leardo sits in sixth place in the individual standings. Monday marked the third time this season that Felician has broken the team single-round school record on Day 1 of a 36-hole event.
