YOUNG WATERBURY, Conn. - The Felician College men's basketball team has advanced to the semifinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament for the first time in five years, defeating host Post University, 79-69, in quarterfinal action Tuesday night at the Drubner Center. Sophomore Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ) matched a season high with 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the victory.
The first half featured five ties and 13 lead changes before Felician (16-12), the No. 3 seed from the CACC North Division, emerged with a 39-36 halftime lead. Ahead 46-42 with 16 minutes, 12 seconds, left in regulation, the Golden Falcons took control as sophomore Kashiff Foster (Somerset, NJ) scored seven points in a 15-5 run lasting nearly seven minutes. When Post, the North's No. 2 seed, cut a 14-point deficit with 4:28 to play to six at the 1:43 mark, Felician ran the shot clock down to the final seconds before a Young three-point field goal iced the victory.
Young, who scored 16 second half points, was 5 for 8 from three-point range. Andrew August (Bridgewater, NJ) joined four Golden Falcon double-figure scorers with 14 points, and Foster (six rebounds) and Sherrod Barrow (Harlem, NY) scored 11 apiece. Felician out-shot the Eagles, 49-36 percent, from the floor. Omar Robinson (Brooklyn, NY) came off the bench to top Post (17-10) with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and teammate A.J. Reitter (Baltimore, MD) recorded 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
