NYACK, N.Y. -- The Felician College women's basketball team fell behind, 25-5, in an eventual 63-51 loss to host Nyack College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division action Thursday evening at Bowman Gymnasium.
Nyack (13-11, 6-9) led, 10-0, after three minutes, three seconds, of action, helped by a pair of Kelsey McIntosh (North Pole, AK) three-point field goals. After Felician pulled to within 10-5, the Warriors scored the game's next 15 points, holding the Golden Falcons scoreless for more than seven minutes.
Felician trailed, 35-17, at halftime, then cut the deficit to 12 points on two occasions early in the second half before a 16-3 Warrior run put the game out of reach. Felician put together a 20-7 spurt over the final seven minutes for the final margin.
Nyack's Shelly Yount (Belvidere, NJ) (7-11 FG) led all scorers with 15 points. McIntosh finished with 14, and teammate Jasmine Minter (Richmond, VA) posted 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Junior Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ) topped Felician (4-21, 2-13) with 14 points, including four three-pointers.
The Warriors outshot the Golden Falcons, 52-29 percent, including 57-19 percent in the first half. With the victory, Nyack secured a berth in the CACC Tournament and eliminated Felician from playoff contention.
