BOSTON -- The Felician College women's cross-country team completed its 2008 season with a 16th place finish at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Sophomore Sarah Root (Aberdeen, NJ) and freshman Leslie Feola (Oak Ridge, NJ) were the frontrunners for Felician, each completing the 6,000-meter course in 26 minutes, three seconds. Root crossed the finish line a split second before Feola to finish in 86th place out of 166 competitors, while Feola, who completed a 6k race for the first time in her career, was 97th.

Amanda Scibetta (Middletown, NJ), the team's only senior, ended her career with a 92nd place finish, clocking a 26:19. Also scoring for the Golden Falcons were junior Sophia Chick (Edison, NJ) (107th, 27:10), and freshman Meghan Corless (Middletown, NJ) (117th, 27:32).

The host River Hawks won the championship with 46 points, and runner-up Stonehill College (56) also qualified for the NCAA national D-II championship race. Senior Christina Dalomba of UMass Lowell was the individual winner (22:10). With 451 points, Felician finished third among Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools in attendance.
