PHILADELPHIA -- In its final tune-up for the Oct. 25 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, the Felician College women's cross-country team placed third overall, and second among varsity programs, at the 17-team Cabrini College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Fairmount Park's Belmont Plateau.

Running on the CACC Championship course, Felician scored 98 points, 19 behind runner-up and defending CACC champion Georgian Court University. The club team from Penn State University won the meet with 68 points.

The Golden Falcons placed two runners in the top 10. Sophomore Sarah Root (Aberdeen, NJ/Old Bridge) ran the team's fastest 5,000-meter time of the season, as well as her career-low 5K, of 20 minutes, 22 seconds, and finished sixth out of 149 competitors. Freshman Meghan Corless (Middletown, NJ/Mater Dei) was eighth, also posting a season-best time of 20:32.

Felician also received points from senior Amanda Scibetta (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) (18th, 20:50), freshman Leslie Feola (Oak Ridge, NJ/DePaul Catholic) (29th, 21:23) and junior Sophia Chick (Edison, NJ/Edison) (44th, 21:59). The Golden Falcons finished ahead of five CACC teams, including regionally-ranked Philadelphia University. Freshman Amy Smith of Shenandoah University was the individual champion (19:48).
