PHILADELPHIA -- The Felician golf team split a three-school dual match on Thursday afternoon at Island Green Country Club. With their 347-371 victory over the host University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, the Golden Falcons set a school record with their third dual victory of the season.

Sophomore Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) led Felician (3-2) with a five-over-par 77. He finished second out of 17 competitors, and was the only member of the top five not from champion Caldwell College, which posted a team score of 317. The Cougars' Dan Garcia was the medalist with a 76.

Also contributing to the Golden Falcons' scoring were junior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) (89, 7th), junior Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) (90, 8th), and senior Albie Sanguiliano (Flemington, NJ) (91, 9th). Smith fired a season-low round, and Sanguiliano was making his 2008-09 debut. All three shot lower scores than the No. 2 man for USP.

Felician, a fourth-year program, had never before posted more than two dual-match victories in a season, with last year's 2-10 record the previous best.
