LODI, N.J. – Sophomore Nicole Broecker (Staten Island, NY) grounded a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Felician College a 2-1 Game 2 victory over the University of Bridgeport and a sweep of the teams’ non-conference softball doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Kennedy Park. A Sherry Flynn (Oakland, NY) two-hitter led Felician to a 4-1 victory in the opener.

With two outs and two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh inning of the nightcap, Bridgeport’s second error of the inning gave Broecker an opportunity to hit with the bases loaded. She ended the game with a hit just inside the first-base bag, scoring Cortney Gavin (Kearny, NJ), who had reached on a fielder’s choice. The Golden Falcons (11-12) took the lead in the first inning on Meredith Rainer’s (Wantage, NJ) RBI groundout, before the Purple Knights received a two-out run-scoring hit from Katie Horton (Fresno, CA) in the third.

CALDWELL, N.J. -- The Felician College softball team lost both games of its CACC softball doubleheader with host Caldwell College on Wednesday afternoon, 3-2 and 6-0, at Caldwell Field, with Game 1 lasting 10 innings. Caldwell is ranked No. 12 in the most recent national Division II coaches' poll.

4/14/06 SOFTBALL - Felician Takes Game From First-Place GCU

LODI, N.J. – Freshman Rebecca Dodd (Oakland, NJ) capped a four-run seventh-inning with a two-out, walk-off single as Felician College rallied to defeat visiting Georgian Court University, 6-5, in Game 2 of the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Kennedy Park. Georgian Court, the CACC’s first-place team, earned a 3-2 victory in Game 1.

Felician (9-10, 3-7) trailed, 3-0, heading into the bottom half of the sixth inning when it received a run-scoring single from Meredith Rainer (Wantage, NY/Depaul Catholic) and a sacrifice fly from Dodd. The Golden Falcons then committed three errors in the top of the seventh, leading to two unearned runs for GCU.

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Sophomore pitcher Nicole Broecker (Staten Island, NY) escaped a first-and-third, none-out situation in the bottom of the ninth inning to preserve Felician College's 5-4 victory in Game 1 of a CACC softball doubleheader with host Post University on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Post earned an 11-4 win in Game 2.

With the international tiebreaker in effect, Felician's Jenna Krowl (Kearny, NJ) was placed on second and eventually scored on a passed ball in the top of the ninth. In the Eagles' half, the placed runner beat Felician's throw to third on a bunt attempt by the leadoff hitter. The next batter sacrificed runners to second and third, but Broecker recorded consecutive strikeouts to end the game.
