DeGRUSHE LODI, N.J. – Felician College freshman Lauren DeGrushe (Guttenberg, NJ/High Tech) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Golden Falcons defeated Post University, 4-3, in Game 1 of the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Kennedy Park. Post gained a split with a 6-1 victory in Game 2.
With the international tiebreaker in effect, Felician’s Katie Spera (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Township) reached on an error to start the 10th. After a sacrifice and a pop-up, DeGrushe looped a single to short left field. The Post coaching staff argued for interference on Spera with the Eagle shortstop in going back on the ball, but after a brief conference, the umpires instead called obstruction on the shortstop, allowing the winning run to stand. |
