DODD PHILADELPHIA -- Junior designated player Rebecca Dodd (Oakland, NJ) went 3 for 4 with two runs batted in to lead the Felician College softball team to a 7-6 Game 2 victory over host Philadelphia University, and a split of the teams' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon on the Philadelphia campus. Philadelphia won Game 1, 4-0.
In the nightcap, Nicole Degenhardt's (Secaucus, NJ) two-run double gave Felician (4-11, 3-1) a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Dodd and Samantha Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY) had run-scoring singles in a three-run third, and Dodd delivered an RBI double in the fourth for a 6-2 advantage. An unearned run for the Golden Falcons in the fifth proved important when Philadelphia scored four runs on six hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Felician pitcher Kristina Jimenez (West Milford, NJ) (2-3), who allowed 15 hits in a complete-game effort, escaped a two-on, one-out jam in the seventh with a pop-up and strikeout. |
