2/27/08 SOFTBALL - 2008 Outlook: Veteran Golden Falcons Look To Benefit From 2007 Pressure

The frantic final week of the 2007 regular season will probably benefit this year’s team, concedes Felician College head softball coach Kathy Hill. But she is not anxious to repeat the experience.

Last year’s Golden Falcons went 7-1 over an eight day stretch at season’s end to qualify for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference playoffs via a tiebreaker, then won two elimination games in the tournament before finishing fourth. All but one defensive starter and the entire pitching staff return, leading Hill to hope that this year will start the way 2007 wrapped up.

2/5/08 SOFTBALL - Van Dyke Among NJAIAW's "Women Of The Year"

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Softball student-athlete Heather Van Dyke of West Milford has been named Felician College’s recipient of the 2008 New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award.

Van Dyke and her fellow institutional and high school honorees were the guests of honor at the annual NJAIAW Woman of the Year luncheon on Sunday, run in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Following this year’s luncheon, held at Seton Hall University, each winner was recognized at halftime of the Pirates’ women’s basketball game against West Virginia University.
