3/31/08 SOFTBALL - DeGrushe Homer Gives Felician Split With HFU

PHILADELPHIA – A three-run third-inning homerun by freshman Lauren DeGrushe (Guttenberg, NJ/High Tech) carried Felician College to a 3-2 Game 2 victory and a split of its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference softball doubleheader with host Holy Family University on Monday afternoon at Tiger Field. Felician was no-hit in dropping the opener, 3-0.

In the nightcap, senior Katie Spera (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Township) led off the visitors’ half of the third with a single. One out later, Heather Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) singled, and DeGrushe then broke a scoreless tie with her second homer of the season. Holy Family reached Felician starter Dara DeSocio (Cliffside Park, NJ/Paramus Catholic) (2-4) for an unearned run in the fifth inning, setting up an exciting seventh.

3/29/08 SOFTBALL - Softball Settles For Split With USP

Dara DeSocio had her first save of 2008 and her first career homerun on March 29.
LODI, N.J. – The Felician College softball team built a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 Game 1 victory over the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia during the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Kennedy Park. USP rebounded for a 3-2 Game 2 victory.

Felician (5-10, 1-3) used successful situational hitting to plate all three of its runs in the opener. Hope Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ/West Milford) delivered a run-scoring groundout in the bottom of the second inning, Amber Doran (Little Ferry, NJ/Ridgefield Park) had a sacrifice fly in the third, and Jenna Krowl (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) drove in a run with a fielder’s choice grounder in the sixth.

3/25/08 SOFTBALL - Felician Edged Twice By Dominican
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Dominican (N.Y.) College twice left visiting Felician College on the field in sweeping a Central Atlantic College softball doubleheader, 4-3 and 6-5, on Tuesday afternoon at D.C. Field. The twinbill marked the conference openers for both schools, with Game 2 decided in nine innings.

3/20/08 SOFTBALL - Flynn Shutout Salvages Final Day In Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Sophomore Sherry Flynn (Oakland, NJ) pitched a five-hit shutout to lead the Felician College softball team to a 6-0 victory over Bethel (Minn.) College on Thursday evening in the final contest of her team's nine-game stay at the National Training Center Spring Games. Earlier on Thursday, Felician dropped a pair of one-run games to NAIA opponents.

Flynn (2-2) struck out seven batters and walked none, allowing just one Royal baserunner to reach third base. Katie Spera's (Lanoka Harbor, NJ) two-run triple highlighted a three-run second inning for the Golden Falcons, who used four base hits in the fourth inning to tack on thre more runs. Flynn went 2 for 3 with a double and Heather Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ) also had two hits. Lauren Habisch (Lakeville, MN) was 2 for 3 for Division-III Bethel (2-3).
