 DeGRUSHE TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Junior Lauren DeGrushe (Guttenberg, NJ) became the Felician College softball program’s all-time home run leader during the Golden Falcons’ 6-4 non-conference victory over Mercy College on Wednesday morning during the Cocoa Expo at Chain of Lakes Park. Later on Wednesday, Felician defeated Finlandia University, 14-0. DeGrushe was 4 for 5 with four RBI on the day.
Felician (4-2) led Mercy, 4-2, in the bottom of the fifth inning when DeGrushe led off with a homer. It was her first of the season and the 15th of her career, breaking her tie with Brittany Steiner (2005-06) for the Golden Falcons’ career record. Nicole Degenhardt (Secaucus, NJ) followed with another solo shot to complete Felician’s scoring for the game. |

 MATEO TITUSVILLE, Fla. – The Felician College softball team defeated Upper Iowa University, 7-2, in its afternoon game during the Cocoa Expo on Monday at Chain of Lakes Park. On Monday morning, Felician lost to Concord University, 3-2. Freshman Justine Mateo (Jersey City, NJ) combined for three hits, three runs scored, three runs batted in and four stolen bases in the two games.
The Golden Falcons (2-2) had lost to Upper Iowa in their season opener on Sunday. A day later, Felician broke a 1-1 tie with a five run fourth inning. Lauren DeGrushe (Guttenberg, NJ) drove in the go-ahead run with a fielder’s choice and Samantha Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY) added a sacrifice fly. After an error extended the inning, Mateo capped the rally with a three-run triple. |

 KELLER TITUSVILLE, Fla. – The Felician College softball team earned a 6-3 victory over Case Western Reserve University on Sunday afternoon, salvaging a split of two games during the Cocoa Expo at Chain of Lakes Park. Earlier on Sunday, Felician lost its season opener to Upper Iowa University, 3-2.
In Felician’s afternoon game, sophomore Grace Keller (Hoboken, NJ) earned her first collegiate victory as a pitcher. Keller started and worked four innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits. Fellow right-hander Kelly Hughes Riker (Toms River, NJ) tossed three hitless innings for her first save as a Golden Falcon. |

Felician College first-year softball coach Rick Krasny will be looking return the program to success by stressing the fundamentals.
“We have to play solid defense, move runners over, steal some bases and do the little things that help to win games,” Krasny said. “That is what we need to do to reach our goal of getting to the CACC Tournament in 2010.” |
