TORRES LYNDHURST, N.J. – Junior catcher Marcos Torres (Miami, FL/South Miami) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning of Felician College’s 3-2 Game 2 victory over Bloomfield College to end the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference baseball doubleheader on Wednesday evening at Breslin Field. Felician (11-9, 2-0) also won Game 1, 6-5, in 11 innings. The contests were the CACC openers for both schools.
Felician trailed, 2-1, heading into the bottom of the seventh inning of the nightcap, a scheduled seven-inning contest. Marcus McCleod (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) drew a leadoff walk off of Bloomfield reliever Elvis Urena (Union, NJ/Union) (0-2). Urena then threw a sacrifice bunt attempt out of play, putting runners at second and third. An error on Vinnie DiBenedetti’s (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) grounder plated the tying run, and Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) scored the game-winner on Torres’s base hit off of Urena’s leg. |
