3/17/08 BASEBALL - Libretta Chosen As CACC Player Of The Week
Mike LibrettaRUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Mike Libretta of Staten Island, N.Y., a junior at Felician College, has been chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the CACC announced today.

Libretta, a 5-foot-7 right fielder, hit .444 (4 for 9) with a .583 on-base percentage in a 1-2 week for Felician, with all three games coming over the weekend in Fort Myers, Fla. He also scored five runs in the three games. He went 3 for 4, scored twice, and drove in a run as the Golden Falcons won Game 2 of a doubleheader against regionally-ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday night.

3/16/08 BASEBALL - Despite 12-Hit Attack, Baseball Falls To Nebraska-Omaha
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha scored nine runs in the top of the eighth inning to turn a one-run lead into an 18-8 victory over Felician College during the Gene Cusic Collegiate Baseball Classic on Sunday afternoon at Terry Park. Nebraska-Omaha is ranked No. 4 in the most recent Division II Central Regional writers poll.

3/15/08 BASEBALL - Felician Splits On First Day In Florida

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- The Felician College baseball team used a come-from-behind 12-8 Game 2 victory to salvage a split of its non-conference doubleheader with the University of Minnesota-Duluth during the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic on Saturday evening at the Cape Coral Sports Complex. UMD, ranked No. 9 in the most recent Division II Central Regional writers poll, earned a 6-5 victory in Game 1.

In the nightcap, Felician (4-6) scored six times in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 6-3 deficit. Mike Libretta (Staten Island, NY), Joey Algieri (New Milford, NJ), and Hector Bello (Miami, FL) had RBI singles to tie the game, before Vinnie DiBenedetti (Forked River, NJ) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ) followed with a sacrifice fly before the inning's final run scored on a fielding error.

3/10/08 BASEBALL - Riker Named CACC Pitcher Of The Week
Nick RikerRUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Nick Riker of Highlands has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the CACC announced today. Felician has won both such awards handed out this season.

Making his second start of the season, Riker settled for a no-decision against regionally-ranked Pace University in the Golden Falcons’ home opener on Thursday. The 6-foot-2 right-hander pitched 6 2/3 innings, yielding two earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks, leaving the game with a 3-2 lead in an eventual 9-3 Felician loss. Felician teammate B.J. Senna of Wallingford, Conn., was the season’s first CACC Pitcher of the Week on March 3.
