4/23/09 BASEBALL - Ernst Pitches Baseball To 7-0 Victory

NYACK, N.Y. – Sophomore right-hander Kevin Ernst (Manalapan, NJ) and two relievers combined on a three-hit shutout as the Felician College baseball team defeated host Nyack College, 7-0, on Thursday night at Nyack High School. Felician broke a tie with Nyack for third place in the CACC standings with 10 games remaining.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth inning, when Felician’s No. 9 hitter, Anthony Spina (Toms River, NJ) struck for a two-out, two-run triple, then capped a three-run rally by scoring on a wild pitch. The Golden Falcons (20-16, 10-7) received an RBI triple from Vinnie DiBendetti (Forked River, NJ) in the sixth, and tacked on two unearned runs in the seventh. Marcos Torres (Miami, FL) provided the final margin with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly.

4/21/09 BASEBALL - Del Valle Selected As CACC Player Of The Week
Alex Del ValleRUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Alex Del Valle of Miami, Fla., has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the CACC announced today.

Del Valle, a 6-foot-1 shortstop, batted .464 (13 for 28) with four doubles, two home runs, seven runs scored and six runs batted in during the Golden Falcons’ 4-2 week. He had the game-winning hit in an Apr. 14 9-8 victory over Caldwell College, and went 5 for 9 with two home runs in a doubleheader sweep of the University of the Sciences. He slugged .821 and had a .483 on-base percentage for the week.
