TORRES LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Marcos Torres (Miami, FL/South Miami) drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a three-run sixth-inning double, leading his team to a 7-4 Game 1 victory over visiting Caldwell College in the teams’ Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Breslin Field. Caldwell rebounded for a 9-0 victory in the nightcap.
In the opener, Felician (8-12, 1-2) had just two base hits in the first five innings in falling behind, 4-1. But the Golden Falcons rallied for six runs on six hits off of three Cougar pitchers in the sixth. Hector Bello (Miami, FL/Miami Coral Park) and Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) drove in runs on a single and groundout, respectively, and a hit and a walk then loaded the bases. One out later, Torres drove a double deep into the right-centerfield gap to score all three baserunners for a 6-4 Felician lead. Torres capped the rally by advancing on a wild pitch and scoring on a throwing error. |
