BARTEE RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College received career highs of 16 points and 14 rebounds from senior power forward Amanda Bartee (Jersey City, NJ/St. Mary) in its 58-54 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division women’s basketball victory over visiting Nyack College on Tuesday evening at Job Gymnasium.
Felician (2-12, 1-4), which led for all but the game’s first 4 ½ minutes, held off a furious Nyack comeback to secure its first league win of the season. The Golden Falcons saw a 10-point lead with three minutes, 37 seconds, left in the second half cut to 50-47 at the 1:35 mark on consecutive baskets by Warrior sophomore Victoria Sweet (Harlem, NY). Felician went back ahead by six with 0:36 to play, but Nyack’s Vera McNeill (Philadelphia, PA) made a lay-up, stole the in-bounds pass, and scored again for a 56-54 deficit and 14.2 seconds remaining. Following a pair of timeouts, two Destiny Thomspon (Paterson, NJ/PCTI) free throws and a defensive stop put the game away for the Golden Falcons. |
