NYACK, N.Y. -- The Felician College men's basketball team clinched a berth in the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Thursday night, holding off a late charge by host Nyack College for a 69-62 CACC North Division victory at Bowman Gymnasium.

Felician (14-11, 7-7) saw what was once an 18-point second-half lead whittled down to 65-62 with possession and 53 seconds left in regulation. Golden Falcon captain Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ) had a driving lay-up rattle around the rim and out with fewer than 30 seconds to play. Nyack rebounded, and with 16 seconds showing, Valiant Jones (Los Angeles, CA) drove down the right side of the lane. Felician's 6-foot-8 center, Sherrod Barrow (Harlem, NY), successfully altered Jones's shot. Felician rebounded and Young's two free throws secured the victory.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman guard Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ/Abraham Clark) recorded 15 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots in his team’s 78-61 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division men’s basketball victory over visiting Post University on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium.

Felician (13-11, 6-7) escaped a first half that contained eight lead changes with a 33-27 advantage, then quickly pushed its edge to 12 points on a three-point field goal from Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) and a three-point play by Sherrod Barrow (Harlem, NY/Legacy). Post would pull to within 47-45 on an Omar Robinson (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) three with 11:05 left in regulation before back-to-back treys by Ethan Kennedy (Albuquerque, NM/Highland) gave the Golden Falcons some breathing room, 53-45.

2/10/09 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Strong Second Half Powers Men Past Caldwell

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men’s basketball team made 17 of 22 second-half field-goal attempts in its 82-66 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division victory over visiting Caldwell College on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium. Freshman Andrew August (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) led Felician with 18 points and eight rebounds.

The first half contained three ties and five lead changes before the Golden Falcons (12-10, 5-6) escaped with a 34-33 advantage. Felician then opened the second half with an 11-2 run for a 10-point lead at the 15:49 mark. The Golden Falcons pushed to a 57-42 edge with 11:11 to play, and their lead hovered between 10 and 19 points for the rest of the night. The hosts owned a 40-19 rebounding advantage and shot a season-high 57 percent from the field.
